JESSE WICKLUND
CINEMATOGRAPHER

Jesse Wiklund is a Métis Cinematographer living on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations (Vancouver, Canada).

Jesse is a graduate of the British Columbia Institute Of Technology's Broadcast Media and Production Program. While enrolled there he started working for Canada's largest film equipment rental company; William F Whites Inc. 

​

Jesse has spent close to a decade working on set in the chosen discipline of lighting. There he has worked as a Lighting Technician, Best Person, and Gaffer. 

​

In 2018 Jesse lensed his first short film as a Director Of Photography, a title he shared with Marco Bassow for the award winning independent horror short film "The Desolation prize" directed by Shane Day for Skinner Street Films. Jesse has since served as the cinematographer for the short film "Crumbs" for the Crazy 8's  film festival in Vancouver.

Jesse has found himself travelling across the country to shoot projects of various sizes and scale. Most recently being flown to Winnipeg to shoot a Canada council funded short film entitled "Plaansh A Roo".

Seeking projects of all stripes, whether it be narrative, documentary, commercial, or music video he has with time, strengthened and focused his instincts for the craft of cinematography.

Jesse believes that the cinematographer needs to represent the director's vision accurately, appropriately, and artistically. Being of mixed Heritage he stands alongside BIPOC story tellers and strives to be an individual who can help tell their stories with inclusivity, respect, and kindness. 

​

Jesse loves things like photography, speaking in third person, cinema, and is always trying to find an excuse to be in the outdoors.
